Join Us: Become A Member

If you are interested in the history of North Carolina, especially the areas of Scottish settlement; if you are interested in genealogy; if you are researching your Scottish ancestors; or would like to meet your kinfolk who are of highland Scottish descent, you should become a member of The North Carolina Scottish Heritage Society.

For your membership dues, you will receive three issues of The Argyll Colony Plus each year. You will read in The Argyll Colony Plus about the historical and genealogical research and other projects being performed by your kith and kin. You may submit genealogical queries which will be published at no charge in the next available issue. You are encouraged to submit your genealogical research for publication.

Members are informed about and invited to the North Carolina Scottish Heritage Symposium in March of each year. The NCSHS collaborates with St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, NC to hold an annual symposium related to Scottish heritage. There are speakers from the U. S. and from Scotland for this three-day event. Their lectures vary from genealogy to other historically related subjects, after which a round table discussion is held. This is a wonderful weekend of learning, sharing information, and fellowship.

The Scottish Heritage Center at St. Andrews is the venue for this symposium. The Center contains many fine artifacts from the early days of Scottish highland settlement in North Carolina and a growing library of historical materials pertaining to the area and its families.

In addition, you will be notified about other events and new publications which will be of interest and which will be available to members.

Annual dues are $30.00. Checks should be made payable to NCSHS and mailed to 506 Shinnecock Ct., New Bern, NC  28562.
